The campaign by Fine Gael to bring accountability, communication and transparency (ACT) to our child care and protection services. For too long change and reforms have been promised. Fine Gael is committed to challenging the status quo and believes that we must ACT now to ensure children at risk are given the protection to which they are entitled.

Children Missing from Care
How we take care of our children says much about who we are as a people and as a country. The revelations contained in the report into the tragic death of TF are deeply disturbing and highlight the State's failure in regard to vulnerable and at risk children. What is even more disturbing is that there is a litany of further reports yet to emerge, outlining a catalogue of pain and trauma suffered by children who have been completely let down by the child care system.
A chilling reality is that the safety of children being taken into State care is not guaranteed; in fact the numbers of children who have died in care is tragic evidence that their circumstances often worsen when they come into State care.
The 'Let in the Light' campaign is designed to ensure that we stay focused on the plight of our vulnerable children, to highlight deficiencies in the child care system and to point to where improvements can be made. It is the least our children deserve and we should stop at nothing to ensure that all our children are cherished and protected from harm so that they can reach their potential and live full and happy lives.
